Conditions for Unconditional Love
It is easier to unconditionally love a relative stranger, than to love a relative!
Love can be offered to a stranger without any strings attached – no rights, no duties, no desires, no possessiveness, and no expectation of return.
Only a mind that can live and die from moment to moment can meet one’s spouse, children, friends and relatives as if meeting them for the first time, with no past baggage.
Such a mind and heart that is liberated from attachment, insecurity, memory and the self, has nothing but Unconditional Love to offer.
These are the absolutely necessary conditions for unconditional love –
- to have the capacity to meet everyone with the freshness of meeting as if for the first time,
- to have the overabundance to offer one’s all to a stranger,
- to celebrate the other’s existence, just for being themselves,
- to have no need of being loved back, since there can be no condition that the love be reciprocated.
And since the one who is loving unconditionally is dissolved in the giving, so there is not even the one. Only Love is.
Love, in itself, is all there is.
