Become Accident Prone
A scene from the novel: Romancing the Truth in which the three guests and two students of the Academy of Overabundance stroll in the lawns of the Academy and discuss ideas. Vivek is the enlightened teacher who runs this academy.
“Keep Your life script unscripted,” declared a large DiAd leaf. “Enlightenment is an accident; make yourself accident-prone,” another leaf proclaimed, intriguing the guests. These leaves were paper thin, green-coloured, leaf-shaped screens that were manufactured to display digital advertisements. The foot-long leaves were connected through wireless networking with all the AoOa registered smartphones, and the pearls of wisdom typed on the smartphone app got displayed in glowing letters on the dark-green leaves. The leaves were strategically placed along the walking track and stimulated one’s thoughts as one strolled in the lawns.
“Isn’t this contradictory,” Neeraj exclaimed, pointing to two other leaves glowing side by side, with one stating, Enlightenment is our Birth-right, and the other, Enlightenment is impossible!’
“It’s not contradictory! You know that enlightenment cannot be planned. It’s always unexpected. An accident cannot be scripted, and enlightenment is the biggest accident that can happen in your life – an accident that leads to the death of the ‘I.’ One must be open to embrace the unexpected,” explained CC.
The possible is the planned – it’s a more or less foreseeable future scripted by extrapolating from the present. There may be minor twists and turns in the script, but they don’t change the story. Our education, job, marriage, lifestyle, all are within a realm of a planned future. But there is another future, which is the unforeseeable, that takes us by surprise. If you think for a moment, you will realize that all important, life changing events, including falling in love or getting enlightened, are the impossible ones – least expected, and most momentous – and life-changing, because they were not part of the script. For the possible future, we need a good mind, logic, and common sense; for the impossible future, we need a good courageous heart, faith, and love, and we need to have the excitement for the unknown, rather than fear of the unknown.
Only then you can get the SWAT of enlightenment.
